Created in 1923 from a coral rock quarry, the Venetian Pool is a one-of-a-kind aquatic experience unlike any other in the nation. The gigantic pool is fed by an underground aquifer and can hold up to 820,000 gallons of water — which is drained and refilled each day during the busy seasons. It’s beauty is complemented by two beautiful waterfalls, multiple caves to explore, a signature bridge, and lush tropical landscape surroundings. It brings hundreds of thousands of visitors each year from all over the world and happens to be the only swimming pool listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
10901 Old Cutler Road
Established in 1936, this 83-acre natural preserve is located right down the road from us and provides an instant escape into a peaceful oasis! The breathtaking scenery of the gardens consists of an extensive collection of exotic plants, tropical flowers and fruits, flowering vines, palms, and oaks. Take a stroll down the hidden trails that wind around 11 lakes, rainforest exhibits, and plenty of botanical delights. Or, explore the garden through their guided walking tours, daily narrated tram tours, and special seasonal events. There’s certainly something for every member of the family or you group to be excited about!
9601 Old Cutler Road
This 600-acre county park is located just south of Coral Gables and is known worldwide for its captivating scenery, abundant wildlife, water activities, and expansive amenities. It’s no secret that nature-lovers and boaters from around the globe come here to experience an unforgettable outdoor getaway. The park has a new, well-marked nature trail where many species of vegetarian and wildlife can be enjoyed from under a canopy of live oaks, Jamaica dogwoods, and other native trees. A typical outing here includes seeing squirrels, gray foxes, colorful butterflies, opossums, skunks, and more — don’t forget your binoculars! You will also find a man-made island pool surrounded by limestone, coral and a circular sandy beach.
907 Coral Way
The Merrick House is a tribute to the history of South Florida and offers a step back in time to the Roaring Twenties! It was home to Reverend Solomon G. Merrick (the founder and developer of the City of Coral Gables), his wife Althea and their six children. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this is an example of early Coral Gables architecture and is now operated as a museum filled with the family’s artwork, photographs, furnishings, and personal items.

Originally the Coral Gables Police and Fire Department, the Coral Gables Museum lives up to its name by offering an extensive overview of the city’s culture and history. In 2003, steps were taken to preserve the building and it later opened in 2011 to the public as the museum. You will find an extra emphasis on the architecture and town planning with ever-changing exhibits dedicated to the civil arts. Recent exhibitions have included “Coral Gables Sister Cities”, “Creating the Dream: George E. Merrick and his Vision for Coral Gables”, “Seeing without Sight”, and “The Caribee Club: Fashion”.
405 Biltmore Way (in front of City Hall)
This outdoor farmer’s market welcomes families and shoppers seasonally from January through March each year! It features a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and jams available for purchase from local businesses. While it’s a traditional market that takes place every Saturday — many people come to enjoy all of the activities provided during this event. Festivities include free chef demonstrations, arts and crafts kiosks, gardening workshops, and kid-friendly fun.
260 Aragon Avenue
This is the place to see art and independent film in downtown Coral Gables, the 141-seat theatre has movie showings seven days a week and brings an eclectic collection of cinema to our area. They cater to the movie connoisseur with black and white viewings of hits like Mad Max: Fury Road, while offering a range of the finest American and international independent films that are widely loved by many. In November, they also host The Miami International Children’s Film Festival in partnership with the prestigious New York International Children’s Film Festival.
